Far too often children in developing countries do not have access to schools or educational resources such as high-quality teachers, books, or computers. The Foundation recognizes the achievement gaps and opportunity gaps that many low-income areas face and is committed to change.

Education is a driving force for change and economic mobility, but it will never be the first priority. In order to learn, the world’s most vulnerable communities must first be able to ensure survival.

By providing for the most basic of needs—food, clean water, shelter—we create the stability necessary to move beyond the essential and towards autonomy.

A vast majority of our world’s population only has access to education through the elementary level, if they receive any at all. With infrastructure investments in secondary schools, we’re building a legacy for learning.
